Office Administration & Information Technology

The roles of R.S. Platou's Office Administration and Information Technology Departments are to ensure that our day to day operations run smoothly and efficiently. R.S. Platou's Managing Partner is Peter M. Anker, who besides being overall in charge of R.S. Platou's broking business, also has overall authority in office administration and information technology affairs.

Karin Francke is in charge of Office Administration and her department is responsible for manpower resources, accounting, procurement, and other office services. Frank Knutsen heads up the Information Technology Department which is tasked with managing our world-wide communications and information network - R.S. Platou's vital nerve. Atle Faye Lund leads the daily operations on the Lan/Wan Informations Systems.

Our move into modern communications started back in the beginning of 1970's when the first generation computer system was installed. In 1975, R.S. Platou was granted special permission from the Norwegian telecommunication authorities to create its own communication system, and in 1980, we were the first shipbroker to develop a vessel information database. This database has since been developed to incorporate technical and commercial information on world fleets and is accessed and updated daily by

R.S. Platou offices world-wide. Our global information technology network is based on the latest generation Windows based systems with integrated suite of Microsoft programs.
